I don't know if you like any older stuff, but early Simon and Garfunkel, Peter Paul & Mary, etc. Of course, they are old folk tunes.

Hey - Arlo Guthrie - Alice's Restaurant - I recited it for drama class once - long song... again, over 40 years old, but you may one day play a crowd that appreciates it...
    Peace

some of my acoustic favorites to play are:

    Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
U2 - One, Originial of the Species, Red Hill Mining Town
    Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

also, anything originally written by Babyface transfers well to guitar, like Toni Braxton songs. Another Sad Love Song comes to mind.

I think Seal's Future Love Paradise would sound great with an acoustic guitar. I did hear Seal do an acoustic version of Wild, and it was beautiful.

Hmm...One should have already been on my list
Fake Plastic Trees is now on my list...and although I wasn't very familiar with Original of the Species, and Red Hill Mining Town is well out of my vocal range, I did come across Staring at the Sun. And I'm definitely checking out Disarm....

    Thanks a bunch!

Listened to a bunch of their tracks -- and I really like the stuff and will probably pick up the albums, but in this here city of Milwaukee, people need to recognize almost EVERY song an artist plays, or they get pissed...the majority of the city has no taste for originals or non-mainstream material...it sucks.

Trying to stay away from too much folk stuff...I dug through the entire simon and garfunkel collection in my quest and came up with 1 or 2 that I kinda liked...but couldn't picture myself doing.

Coincidentally, my band does The Middle, and we used to do Melt With You.
I'm adding Kiss Off to my 'to do' list. Nice.
Blind Melon? Love em, but can't sing even close to that dude's wierd, falsetto(sp) range. (fav. blind melon tune is tones of home)

    "'Cause I think you're so pretty-yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

    Something's not right.

Also, some of those other songs you could transpose or just capo your guitar to get it within your vocal range...

You probably already know that, but I'm just saying.

Nice list, by the way, I might have to start learning a lot of those too.
I just don't end up where think I'm going when I start out.

Its a different kind of range...I can sing falsetto right up there with Mariah Carey, but the kind of tone that produces isn't appropriate for most songs. The songs 'out of my range' are just out of my 'full voice' range.
