For anyone else in the path of Irene...

Doc, Be, Coz, Liz, Syxx, anyone else I am forgetting. Stay safe and inside. We won't get it till tomorrow up here in Boston, but still worrisome. I mean they evacuated parts of New York for the first time *EVER*

there we go, just right. keep walking...

    We are thinking about you

It may take you a while to find your way back here after the storm, but when you do know that we are here wishing for the best.
    I hope everyone is ok.

Syxx, the next time you get water in the basement (and hopefully that will never happen again), Home Depot sells a portable pump that will suck all the water off the floor and through a hose. My basement floods with water about once every year (usually melted snow and rain together). This pump, which I got for $75, will quickly pump the water out of your basement. It is much better and faster than doing the shop vac thing. I have no floor drain in my basement, so I had to hose the water out thru the pipe that is normally used for the washing machine. This pipe is about 5 feet above my basement floor. Just a little advice for next time.
    I love the summer months!

They're called transfer pumps. We have one too. Used it when the basement flooded before I had a permanent sump pump installed.

there we go, just right. keep walking...
