    Harm's ever evloving house.

For those who didn't know (which is probably everyone here since I haven't made a big deal about it), my house is currently being renovated/added on to. I've been taking pics of the progress so far and finally compiled a slide show of them.

    Have a looksee:

Holy shit! That is a huge project. Was it cheaper to do it this way rather than move? Or were you really tied to that specific location?

A lot of factors went into the decision to remodel instead of move. First, moving sucks, but then so does living in a house while it is being remodelled as well, so that about equaled itself out. Second, was the thought of packing up everything to move from A to B, packing sucks. But we do have to pack up a ton of stuff while things get rearranged inside as well, but not having to pack everything versus only a little edged towards remodel.

Remodelling also gets exactly what we want. For us, it ends up being significantly cheaper to remodel than to purchase. New England houses are not cheap around Boston, and the larger you go the more expensive it will be. We have significant savings by remodeling versus buying.

Lastly, and most importantly probably, we don't think that we would have been able to sell our house for what it's really worth, the housing market being what it is and all. When there is a difference of around 60K in what we think it should be to what it would probably sell for, well, that's 60K less for the new house, which means not getting everything we want.

The house when all is said and done, will have very little of the original one left in it. Those parts aren't done yet, obviously, but I will show before and after pics of those as well. this is a long process, and we're just in the beginning. (the beginning is the most dramatic though)

there we go, just right. keep walking...

Wow, what a process. I'm excited for you though. We just had our bathroom redone and it makes a huge difference in the feel of the house.
I just don't end up where think I'm going when I start out.

when you guys say not working, does anything show up at all? This will require the most recent version of the flash player in order to work. (I eat my own dog food, you see, you shall all eat it as well)

I found that there were small left / right arrows on either side of the title (top of the page) to move to the next image... took me a while to find 'em... maybe some of you guys aren't seeing them?

BTW - That's some serious renovating man! One shot looks like you're putting in a bowling alley...

I wish. A bowling alley isn't really that expensive. for a computer, a ball return thingee (underground even), a few balls, an alley, and a pin setter it's only 14k. But you need like 72 feet, and I don't have that.

My old boss does though, have enough linear feet, and his basement does have one. Seriously. It's near his home theater with the 106 inch 1080p screen which is freaking amazing.
