Another group that reminds me of Thicke is called DAG, they are right out of Raleigh NC. They broke up a long time ago, they had 2 albums. I didn't feel the first one, but I reccommend the second one Apt. 635 (especially if you were feeling Thicke), a friend said he didn't care for it cuz it was overproduced but I really enjoy it, definitely worth a listen
    Oh yes...

I posted this link at Tim's site as well, but it is a link that talks about the project Christopher "Play" Martin is involved in at my church.

I have "Harlem World" too, and every time I hear it I remember how hot that sh*t was...

Gotta listen to that more often, I just forget.
I just don't end up where think I'm going when I start out.

Ok, I don't really have a group or song that I'm not willing to admit that I like or listen to. But if you want to talk about things that will get me weird looks or, "you're kidding right" are:

    Color Me Bad
    Jars of Clay
    Charles and Eddie
    Oasis
    Rod Stewart
    George Michael
    Supreme Beings of Leisure
    Wham
    Def Leopard
    Monkeys
Something is neither good nor bad but thinking makes it so.

hmmm I think that statement would be a better title for this post, because not everything we have listed is actually bad or shameful, just not what the masses tend to listen to or think is normal or good. I mean even my favorite band '311' probably belongs in here. I love them to death but there lyrics are really out there and random at best, but I love listening to them and the music makes me feel good. Just being a black female that doesn't really listen to a lot of hip hop and R&B period garners many "you're kidding right?" remarks for me.

I don't know if this even counts as a song. I joked with my wife this would be our first dance song....the guy was Paul Hardcastle and the "song" was Nineteen. You know it. The one which talked about Nam. I haven't heard the damn thing in years!
I'm much more fond of Rainforest, which -- perhaps deservedly -- got much less radio play.

"She drives me crazy" fyc. I quit listening to music for 2 years after that incident, I was all  until I found peace

Please laugh with me, not at me.........
I admit to an odd fondness for Robert Palmer. I even like his cover of "The System's" In My System.

Thankfully, I can admit that my interest in the Fine Young Cannibals wasn't completely hormone driven: I adored Good Thing long before I laid eyes on *sigh* Roland Gift. (Thanks to that man, Sammy and Rosie Get Laid is one of my favorite films. whoo.)

Really, I'm laughing with you. There's no alternative.

All I can really remember about Billy Ocean's music is that he was my first real experiment with the "pitch" dial on my parents stereo. I never did quite get him to sound like Aretha Frankin, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

There's more, but this is getting long.

A song that suffered from serious overplaying, but I actually found myself being able to sing part of the German version without knowing a lick of German. The same with Falco's Der Kommisar.

I don't understand why I like that song. It has so many potentially annoying components to it, but everytime I hear it I end up bouncing around and enjoying myself.

Wrong ... wrong on so many levels.

I watched a where-are-they-now special on them recently and was sad to find out that Rob had died. They certainly weren't the most profound experience of my life, but it was a pity that he couldn't find some way to make out well afterwards.

I'm quite fond of Michael Hutchence's cover of Jim Morrison's The Passenger. "Batman Returns" wasn't a great movie, but I love the soundtrack.

i listen to filthy dirty nasty House songs...the nastier the better..like "Break for Love",,,oh and .."you used to hold me...you used to love me...you used to thrill me"oh..and my all time personal favorite..."You Keep me Cummin on"....extended PLUNG ME!!!!!! mix...invented by our very own Cozmo D[/quote]

Thus far, I can think of three examples of music I like that leave me checking to see
if if it can be heard through my headphones:

Type O Negative - particularly, Be My Druidess

VNV Nation - specifically Cold, the Rated R Mix by Mig-29

Peaches - seems to be pretty much any random song she does

And, my all-time shameful admission is Right Back to Where We Started by Maxine Nightingale, voted by someone the single worst disco song of the 70's. I never quite grew out of liking this song, though I admit that I don't indulge too often. I fear my brain would melt.

I wouldn't have thought that there was any shame in liking CeCe's Finally until I re-watched "The Aventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert". I think I'd blanked the trauma of what song was playing. aigh, the visuals from that one particular performace! :bash:
