sorry, man, but linux just doesn't support my needs for a development environment. We write software that runs on linux (and OSX, and Solaris, and AIX, and Windows as well), but as far as IDE's go, linux just doesn't have a good one. Many of the other core pieces are not up to the polish that the Windows and OSX counterparts are at either.

A linux desktop is still just a toy.

there we go, just right. keep walking...

try it. I thought the same way. Ive ran a *nix most of my computer life. Never as a desktop cant beat it on servers. untill now. hated running it as a desktop. but this rocks. havent had to do anything to get wine to insall ms apps. other than urpmi wine.

exp for the people that run win98 me and all the ms tard os's that have no more support and are spambot havens. this is the os to use

Plus thats a live cd worth a try

    It does look very xpose-ish.

Eternals, what do you do for a living (just curious). I write commercial software, and the IDE's that are on linux are not up to par yet. Don't even get me started about Eclipse. I *HATE* eclipse. I think it's dumb that my own company is locked into using it and writing plugins for it.

My opinion has nothing to do with using office software, it has everything to do with me trying to get my daily job done. When I need a linux box, I will telnet into it and do what I need to do. But when it comes to real productivity, windows is still where it's at.

i run a isp and telco

It hands down beats expose. ITs everything it wishes it was. plus opengl windows osx can only dream about being this cool.

What i am saying is this is now a viable alt for the everyday windows user. Someone tired of getting virus and paying 100000$ for a pos os. This is where to go.
