Which has nothing to do with anything, but...

Years ago, there was this tv show that I adored called "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd." I'd like to see it released on DVD, but in order to make that happen, enough people need to "vote" for it on amazon.com. Even if you don't particularly care, and have no intention of buying it, I'd appreciate as many people as possible "expressing interest" so maybe it will come out on DVD.

That would be Blair Brown. She's the reason that I, a teenage boy, gave a crap about a story of the trials and tribulations of some thirty-something single woman. I think they showed reruns of it on Lifetime for awhile, but I didn't watch it, because Lifetime causes brain damage.

I wouldn't mind seeing that in reruns on tv, but I wouldn't spend money on it. BTW, why didn't they just call that show Married with Children and a Puppet?

If you really thought that, you simply weren't paying attention.

The characters on MWC, as much as I loved that show, they really weren't very likable. They really were, excuse the term, white trash. And the scripts for the most part were really predictable.

UEA was a different show, with a different attitude than MWC. The stories weren't all that cliched and predictable, the daughter was actually smart as hell (while kelly bundy was your typical dumb blonde who had to, for example, ask what's the number for 911...), the mom turned out to be a lesbian and left the show, Floppy was that extra flavor that really set the show apart -- and plus, it was really easy to LIKE the people on UEA. I also loved how they'd break the "fourth wall" all the time -- the characters KNEW they were on a TV show, and Ross used to complain that he'd never get enough lines and scenes compared to the rest of the cast -- they even tricked him into going over to another wb show just to get rid of him for awhile.

But I won't keep trying to convince you. I'd buy a UEA dvd set in a heartbeat. It just annoys me because saying UEA was a MWC rip off is like saying Cult of Personality and Smells Like Teen Spirit are your favorite Living Colour and Nirvana songs.

I agree with you that UEA had better writing and MWC was usually downright stupid, but c'mon... you can't deny the similarities. I mean, just look at the main set! The living room of UEA bears an uncanny resemblance to the living room in MWC.

I was never much of a fan of Nirvana, but are you telling me that Cult of Personality is not one of Living Colour's greatest songs, if not it's greatest? It was undeniably the standout on Vivid, and although Time's Up was an outstanding album as a whole (and one of my all-time favorite albums from my college years) and doesn't have a bad track on it, it did not have a song that really stood out and made people stand up and take notice the way Cult of Personality did. I can't really speak for Living Colour from 1994-present, because after Muzz left the band, they took on a darker tone that I didn't really dig.

I didn't care much for Vivid, so I don't even remember what that song sounds like. I'll have to find my disc and fire it up. If it sucks, though, I'm holding you liable.

It's okay, but never was one of my faves on the disc.

My favorites on Times Up are Pride and Fight the Fight. I consider those two to be indicative of the peak of Living Colour's lifespan. Under Cover of Darkness is a really good one, too... I can personally relate to that one, and you can't go wrong with a guest appearance by the Queen.

I bought Stain back in 94 when it came out, slobbering as I drove it home. I popped it into my CD, and I surprised myself at how much I hated the album. I sold it back posthaste. Last year, I saw it in the dollar bin at my local record store, so I bought it again, seeing if 10 years of aging had made me more receptive to their "new" sound. No dice. I still own the disc, but I'm not likely to give it another chance.
Even though I think Doug Wimbish is a skilled bassist, I don't like him because I can't help but associate him with the fall of Living Colour. When I heard that the band was getting back together, I was fervently hoping that Muzz would come back.

Vernon Reid's solo album kicked butt. I never listened to Corey Glover's solo album, because I got a free promo disc featuring Do You First, then Do Myself. That was enough for me to avoid his album with extreme prejudice.

Yeah, I remember that movie. I remember some stupid chick in my dorm who cried during the scene where Jon Cusack flies the friendly Ione Skye while Peter Gabriel played in the background. The chick cried! What's up with that?

Also in my dorm, someone had carefully transcribed the lyrics to Elvis Is Dead onto the stall partition in the men's bathroom. I vaguely remember drawing a zombie elvis in the stall as an accompanying illustration.

Memories Can't Wait is good... it's better than the original, which is fairly rare for Living Colour. I never really liked Open Letter that much... it doesn't even make it into my top 25 Living Colour songs.

Definitely Nothingness. It took a while for this album to grow on me, but I'm also crazy about Ignorance Is Bliss, Leave It Alone, and Auslander.

Flying is pure genius. As is Operation Mind Control, Great Expectations, and Choices Mash Up. Lost Halo has good music, but I guess I just don't get the lyrics.

FWIW, I think Cult is on a similar level, though I agree it is not in the top five.
