    Teach me (car subwoofers)

    I know nothing about car sound systems except that mine isn't that great. My brother bought some new speakers for my car before i got it for no more than about $50 and they sound okay. But when I'm in the mood to turn them up a little louder, they can't handle the bass. I know a cheap subwoofer isn't going to do me any good, so I just need to know a little about them (what's this wattage stuff; i need an amplifier too??) before I go out and just start buying stuff. I just want to be able to listen to my music a little louder (especially when the wind on the highway with my windows down drowns out the sound and i have to turn it up) and be able to hear bass drum and heavier distorted guitar stuff. I'm not worried about shattering windows and ear drums or making old people hate me when i drive around the block or anything. i just want to be able to hear the bass without it all crashing together.
