Well it is out now. Giambi has "officially" admitted to using steroids through his leaked grand jury testimony... although no one should be suprised and he is not the only one that used it, he still 8 months ago "lied straight faced, while I sighed. Still he looked to find a reason to deceive." A little Rod Stewart jingle I made up when I heard this.

Next step, Bonds. I hate to say it, but he was my baseball idol with the Pirates as I grew up. My brother loved the A's with McGwire and Conseco and I loved Bonds, Bonilla and Van Slyke( Let's just say that our card collecting of literally hundreds of McGwires and Bonds' cards has turned out to be rather profitable).

But does anyone care about baseball players juicing? It certainly doesn't help you contact the ball with the bat any better. But I think that the strength helps for a long season and you can swing a bigger bat. But what do you think?

I think it sux, though maybe not as strongly as the choices in the poll. My main peeve is it cheapens the records of those who came before. When McGuire smashed Maris' record I was pissd, not because he broke it but because he demolished it so thouroughly as to make the old records appear insignificant. If these behemoths get to play juiced they should raise the mounds and loosen the balls to level the playing field.
    Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

I hate that Maris record fell to potentially a few juicers. A life-long ban is a bit harsh(that is what i voted for) but i think it would send the point home there is ZERO tolerance.

Cheaters stink and the fact they were allowed to cheat and gain something from it makes it all that much more the worse.

It doesn't matter what Bonds does now....much like Pete Rose he sort of tarnished his career. Same with Giambi.
I do not suppose I shall be remembered for anything. But I don't think about my work in those terms. It is just as vulgar to work for the sake of posterity as to work for the sake of money.

They will suffer the repercussions of their "Juice use" LONG after thier careers have died and their records have been re-attained.
I have seen the long term effects of Steriod use/ abuse.
NOT WORTH THE RECORD. I PERSONNALLY WOULD RATHER KEEP MY NUTS HEALTHY!

I can't believe the flack that Giambi is getting. By my math 50 people juiced last year, why only crucify Giambi and speak ill of Bonds(even though there names are the only ones out there). Looking at it holistically, some players are doing it, and most of them not doing it. With that said, Bonds still outperformed the other steroid users(that should count for something? -- this is kinda a joke).

I just hate how people on TV are bitching about just 2 people...

Kay Dee, it may not be worth the record, but it likely is(at least to some people) worth the $$$$. But that certainly doesn't make it right.

Well the media sucks. I won't argue against that one bit. Still....those guys cheated and they didn't probably need to cheat. Bonds was a good basbeall player when he was smaller..I give credit to Giambi for finally admitting but he can't build a time machine so that's about all i give him.

Giambi doesn't deserve any credit in my book... considering he lied all year about how he was on a diet and he hadn't taken steroids, and only telling the truth to a federal grand jury -- where I believe that your testimony is said to be confidential. He would have lied about it the rest of his life had the story not leaked by people involved in the case. But I still think he should be treated the same as all the other juicing players. Hell, I don't like the fact that he lied, but so many people would have done the same thing in his shoes(still doesn't make it OK).

Bonds was such a dichotomy. One of MLB's best stolen base men of his era in his first half of his career. Then he became one of baseballs best homerun hitters after 'likely' juicing. Plus he is #1 all-time in walks and runs, that is directly linked to his drastic improvement in HR's. Bonds was very skinny in his first few years, it makes visual sense that he might have juiced, but I agree, he didn't necesarily need to, he would have been a good pro either way.

McGwire, on the other hand was BEEFY even in college. His frame was just designed to be monsterous. I know he took creatine, but I highly doubt that he ever took anabolic steroids... I might be wrong, but I hope not.

Worth the $$$$? How are testicles that will NOT produce testosterone
which in turn after you STOP juicing for long enough increases your estrogen level to that of a teen age girl and causes you to grow boobs worth the $$$$? (Gynecomasty)
Testicular cancer. Prostate cancer. Impotence. (Impotence that even viagra cannot cure.)
Brain damage, tumors. Torn muscle tissue that scarrifies soooo deeply that you lose all range of motion.
Dementia (A study of some admitted juicers in the pre-geriatric age range showed that the juiced up dudes had a 68% increase in alzhiemers, parkinsons and other brain dementia diseases vs. those that never juiced.)
NEVER worth the $$$$ What is the use of 50 billion dollars if you can't remeber what the hell money is?
Or if you can't get a hooker every now and then?
Or if every chick you meet thinks you are a half -op transexual? :tinker:
May seem like its worth it, but if you look long enough it becomes
    obvious that it isn't........

To some people this would be worth $100,000. It is sad, but true. When you multiply it by 1000, $100,000,000, which is worth what a top ten baseball payer can be worth(in 1 contract)... it is clearly worth it to some people. To provide for their families people have done much more stupid things then baseball players have for the money(and the money is all this is about to some people).

That is true. These people that THINK that the "juice" is worth the trouble it may bring later in life are sadly ( I do mean SADLY) mistaken. Hell when I was in high school, I was offered the chance to "improve my college standing" by getting a little juiced. Two people on my high school team were juiced ( I went to school and played ball with Jason Craft
of the Jaguars - I think he is still with them???-) East Denver High school class of 95. I could never stay healthy enough to make the HUGE impact. I played Varsity my freshman year then stayed injured until graduation.
I turned it down then. If a high school kid with not much $$$ can turn it down, why not these huge REALLY good athletes?
    STUPIDITY!
