I work in the software business at Macromedia (I'm on the CF Server team and was previously on the HomeSite team). In my spare time I also write a program called WOTgreal (http://www.wotgreal.com) which is an editor for UnrealScript. UnrealScript is how you write the AI/Weapons/Effects/Behavior for games like Wheel Of Time, Unreal, UnrealTournament, DeusEx, Vampire Hunter, etc. In fact people at Epic are currently using it for UT2004 that will be released in January.

Every once in a while, just for kicks and giggles, I look WOTgreal up on yahoo and google to see what other sites are out there. Today the second, fifth, and sixth hits are for crackz! I guess that's the ultimate form of computer flattery, they're too cheap to pay the $25 to register, so instead of just clicking on the OK button nag screen (that's all it does is nag, all the functionality is there), the hack it up.

The funny part of all this, though, is the crack is for 2.508 and I'm currently on like 2.905. The hack is exe specific, so they don't get the *ton* of bug fixes that I've done in the last two and a half years (that's when 2.508 was released).

I just found it pretty amusing that my personal creation was being "cracked".

Yeah, contribute is pretty cool. Contibute 3 is even cooler, you'll see what I mean when it comes out

I just make tools. the people I know in the gaming industry are all programmers, not publishers or designers. I'll see what I can do, though. Both Legend and Epic are about to start new things, so...
