    Is there any way to save a screen shot with dvds? i tried to do it with a dvd rom, but when i saved it it was just black.

    that's built in protection, you can't screen cap DVD's

    powerdvd has a screenshot option which works ok

    Yeah the powerdvd screen cap works really well. But I advise you get the platinum version and make sure you pause it before you cap it.
