    Jam-On The Groove - Saturday, September 4th, 2010

    September 4th Podcast

Dogtrane dives right into the Disco this week, but he has all sorts of other surprises up his sleeve! Excursions into and mash-ups with Freestyle, Funk and even Pop! Who else would dare to mix and mash-up Disco with Men At Work, Billy Joel or even Christopher Cross! Another classic DJ Dogtrane set!

I answered that with my own venture into the edumucational system, touching all sorts of angles and genres of music. Perhaps my most varied set to date! Here's my playlist:

    Les Voleurs - "Better"
Bob Marley & The Wailers - "Who The Cap Fit"
Pat Metheny Group - "To The End Of The World"
    Fela Ransome-Kuti And Nigeria 70 - "Ako"
    Cal Tjader - "Afro-Blue"
Sly & The Family Stone - "Runnin' Away"
    Pleasure - "Joyous"
Home T, Cocoa Tea, Shabba Ranks - "Pirates' Anthem"
Kool & The Gang - "Summer Madness (Live)"
    K-Scope - "Outer Mind"

    ENJOY!

    Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

    Jam-On The Groove - Saturday, September 11th, 2010

    September 11th Podcast

Dogtrane mashes the hell out of some Disco, House and Nu Disco, churning the up with all kinds of left field goodies and things! I think I heard some Abba and even a little John Lennon? Or was that Paul McCartney? Mixed with Disco? And Pleasure? Seriously? Yes, he has the 3 turntable madness goin' on! Not to be missed!

I then got into it with some AfroBeat, some classic Funk, some Funky Jazz, and some mellowed out grooves. Here's my playlist:

Fela Kuti - "Shuffering And Shmiling"
    Steely Dan - "F.M."
    Ohio Players - "Funky Worm"
Rotary Connection - "I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun"
    Roy Ayers Ubiquity - "Fikisha"
Abebi Stafford & Bayorythm - "Naima"
Bobby Caldwell - "What You Won't Do For Love"
    Stevie Wonder - "Golden Lady"
    Santana - "Light Of Life"
    Groove Collective - "Drunken Master"
    Zero 7 - "Passing By"
LTJ Bukem - "Rhodes To Freedom"

    ENJOY!

    Jam-On The Groove - Saturday, September 18th, 2010

    September 18th Podcast

Dogtrane was in Brooklyn this week so yours truly flew solo. Since I had a bit more time to stretch I decided to place a bit of emphasis on the funk while cutting across genres as usual. Started off with some Electro then some mellowed out Electro Funk Pop (or however the hell you want to categorize Zero 7) then straight into the Funky Jazz Fusion. Varies even more from there, even a likkle bit of Reggae! Here's the playlist:

    DJR21 - "Robotek"
    Pip Williams - "Future Past"
    Zero 7 - "Destiny"
Grover Washington Jr - "Mister Magic"
Donald Byrd - "Stepping Into Tomorrow"
Earth Wind & Fire - "Power"
    4Hero - "Blank Cells"
Paul Hardcastle - "Constellation Of Dreams"
Quincy Jones - "Summer In The City"
    Junie - "Super J"
Bobbi Humphrey - "Harlem River Drive"
Crusaders Feat. Randy Crawford - "Street Life"
The Isley Brothers - "Hope You Feel Better Love (Part 1 & 2)"
    Aswad - "Not Guilty"
Jean-Luc Ponty - "Enigmatic Ocean (Part III)"
Brooklyn Funk Essentials - "Blow Your Brains Out"
    Cymande - "The Message"
Sly & The Family Stone - "If You Want Me To Stay"
Roy Ayers Ubiquity - "We Live In Brooklyn, Baby"
    Nebo - "Liquid Sky"
The Main Ingredient - "Rolling Down A Mountainside"

    ENJOY!

If there's one tune that can bring me to my most calm and serene state...it is Zero 7 - "Destiny"....Distractions or Spinning can usually do the trick too...
I'm not signing this without my lawyer.

    Jam-On The Groove - Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

    October 2nd Podcast

Dogtrane rocked the House this week... literally! He got loose on some House vibes and mashed 'em up good! From classic 4 on the floor pounders to obscure body shaker, all blended, sliced and mashed-up in the Dogtrane stylee! Good stuff!!!

I followed with a funky, jazzy and rather instrumentally driven set. Perfect contrast to Dogtrane's havoc filled excursion if I say so myself. Here's my playlist:

LTD - "Love To The World"
Sven Van Hees - "Sophiesticated Lady"
    Galactic - "Crazy Horse Mongoose"
    Ceder - "Amanha De Manha"
    Fela Kuti - "No Agreement"
Hugh Masakela - "In The Jungle"
    Zero 7 - "Look Up"
    MFSB - "Morning Tears"
    Lonnie Liston Smith - "Expansions"
Jimmy Castor Bunch - "A Groove Will Make You Move"
Bah Samba Feat. Roy Ayers - "Positive Vibe (Roy's Groove)"

    ENJOY!

Destiny is a bad azz song! (I'm listening to three of their albums today. More instrumental than I expected, the first album at least.)

    Jam-On The Groove - Saturday, October 9th, 2010

    October 9th Podcast

This week Dogtrane starts us off with some pure classic Hip-Hop, dashes into a classic break beat, then voila, Michael Jackson time! He then goes on a massive mash-up session with touches of break beats, Disco, Funk, House and all sorts of other goodies thrown in! Juicy set!

I was trying to remain in a zen mood as I prepared for the Yankee playoff game that was following right after we got off the air, so I played some appropriate mellowed out zen music. Here's my playlist:

    Steely Dan - "Glamour Profession"
    Quincy Jones - "Bluesette"
    Dionne Farris - "Hopeless"
Zero 7 - "In The Waiting Line"
Grover Washington Jr. - "Black Frost"
Jimmy Castor Bunch - "Space Age"
Pat Metheney Group - "Are You Going With Me"
The Jones Girls - "Nights Over Egypt"
War - "The World Is A Ghetto"
Earth Wind & Fire - "Keep Your Head To The Sky"

    ENJOY!

I was watching the Yankee playoff game this week, so Dogtrane whipped up a 2 hour set. Of course, he left no style or genre untouched! You name it, he plays it, slices it, mashes it, dices it!

    ENJOY!

I have it too. I love Lauryn Hill on it. Hopeless and Sweetest Thing are the only two songs I ever listened to on it.
