I'm not at all surprised that Barack won. But I'm happy for him. And I pray for his safety

If it's my world too, then whose gold is this I'm digging out
I agree. Congrats Obama - stay out of Texas for a whileI thought it would be much longer before America elected a black President. Only time will tell if this is the best thing for the country, but it's a big step for racial attitudes.

This song is a classic! And appropriate, too - btw.

YES WE CAN!
Did y'all watch that victory speech? Whoa.
"What, Wheeljak? You fell in that open manhole?
How is that possible?
I posted 'CAUTION: OPEN MANHOLE' on my Facebook page!"
Which one was he again?
If you had one leg being pulled by reality, and one leg being pulled by spirituality, where would that leave you, huh?

Keep your headphones on.
The speech was great!! I had a party last night to watch the election, I couldn't believe it was called at 11 p.m.
In the end, I voted for Obama (although I did it on a third-party ticket, so I felt like I was still supporting a multi-party system). After watching the debates and researching his economic plans, I realized how much he represented the ideals I believe in.
For the first time in my life, I politically feel like part of this country. In my lifetime we have had two ultra-conservatives, a conservative, and two moderates in the presidency. It starts feeling alienating after awhile that everyone in this office seems to be pandering to one part of America, a part you don't belong to. For the first time, I feel like the left has a chance to be represented, too.
This is a historical election. There will be a black First Family living in the White House. And this is first time a Gen-X'er has been elected -- a symbol for those of us in that generation that it is no longer our parents and grandparents ruling this country, but that it's now our turn.

...and hopefully we will do a better job.
I love the summer months!
Yay Everyone! Yay Mistress!!! I feel so great, and so proud of my country, and so proud to be a part of this historic and meaningful event. We thought we would never see this day.

AVERT!! ::hand motion::
Don't temp the fates of corporations and politicians in this country...

He's better than a symbol, and I expect he will prove that.
I don't want to hear any more put downs about Obama voters being commies and how he's a major leftist socialist, or jokes about throwing Obama out of a plane, how the heartland will never respect him ever, or hear about people who accuse him of downplaying his white heritage in order to win votes, or up-playing his black heritage to get votes, or people at workplaces complaining they didn't get enough sleep because they stayed up to watch the n_____ get elected...
EXCUSE ME...
I remember back when I hated Bush, being told how unpatriotic I was. That if I didn't support him or the war I didn't support our troops and I didn't love this country. Then when a black man wins by overwhelming popular vote, people can say whatever they want about their newest leader and president of this nation with ZERO respect and they aren't traitors? They aren't unpatriotic? They aren't anti-American? Hey, your guy had a chance, now it's our turn. And if you don't like it, now YOU can leave this country.
You know what? He won the election fair and square and without having to pull strings with brother in Florida or deceive black voters and tell them their voting location or DAY has been changed, and without throwing out votes or avoiding a proper recount. THAT's America and democracy, and all he wants to do is restore America and its citizens to a state of security and well-being and all people can do is accuse him of being a Muslim or the next anti-Christ? He's gonna fix your ass out of the trailer trash holes you're all in and all you can do is bitch about him? He's an elitist when he's too smart and educated for you to understand and appreciate him and a socialist when he wants to make sure your children go to fucking college and have health care at the expense of the people who have enough to feed nations yet perhaps don't otherwise give a shit about you or your family... WTF ever.
phew, I feel better now. Maybe this was better material for firing line? ha.
So patience... is nothing...
You believe you were unfairly silenced and insulted for expressing dissent towards Bush, so therefor you want to... unfairly silence dissent towards Obama? That hardly seems right.
I hope all of the good things you expect from Obama come to pass, I really do, but mark my words, if you grow complacent and uncritical of him out of fawning admiration, he WILL become the next George W. Bush.
If you had one leg being pulled by reality, and one leg being pulled by spirituality, where would that leave you, huh?
No, I'm SAYING that what's "good for the goose is good for the gander". In other words, I am getting annoyed at the hypocrisy of those who told me what a radical nonpatriot I was when I didn't like Bush, but now that the guy THEY didn't vote for is in office they're fine with calling him a n_____? Where's their American pride now... their respect? I guess those people aren't radical nonpatriots, hmm?
Anyway, I expect great things from him and would not let my love for him blind me from his actions. If PM Dawn folks know anything about me and expectations and love and judgment... they know that.I'm probably much harder on the people I love in that sense.
So patience... is nothing...
PS- I am surprised at the support from Wendy and Detroit, because whenever I go off like that I don't expect much positivity, so thanks for appreciating my venting.I know I kind of went off and everything and I feel better now....
