Ok i'm going a little old school right here. It's a song from the Monkee's and it's on of my personal favorites during the psychedelic period. I abosultely love this song and Micky sounds perfect. The song was actually written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King...

The footage is from the movie HEAD. It's a must see if you enjoy weird psychedelic stuff and The Monkees.

My other choice is Elliott Smith...no pictures on the tube but a wonderful song by an artist who left us far too soon.

Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

    More tunes for the masses!

A song by an artist i love quite a bit which was in a very popular play just recently(called Spring Awakening)

The Artist who wrote the music is Duncan Sheik....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JCoA92y24A

Also a band which i was sad to see crumble....Jellyfish...they fell apart far too soon!

You really cannot go wrong with any of Duncan's albums. Here's how i would rank them in order of buying them....

Duncan Sheik(1996) -album with his hit and only hit Barely Breathing. The rest of the album is fantastic though.

Daylight-This album is one of the truly really great albums you enjoy all the way through. Each time i listen to it i always wonder why radio didn't pick up on this album? (then i remember....radio sucks these days)

Humming-His second album. It's got many wonderful tunes and is a little more acousticy than his first album which was ornate with strings and what-not. It's ranked three because the first album and Daylight are just that good.

White Limousine- His last album if you don't count the work from Spring Awakening. It's a mellow affair but great music. This is an album that potentially could move up my list but it hasnt soaked all the way in as of yet. The title track is my favorite off this one...

Phantom Moon- This is an album written lyrically by his friend Steven Sater. The music and voice is all Sheiks. It's still a very "Duncany" album and worthwhile to own, in fact, i have it in my mix at home as we speak. Another very mellow affair...has a lot in common with Humming. The music was made for a play called Phantom Moon.

Spring Awakening- I'd love to see the play as it seems quite good. THe music for the play was written by Duncan Sheik and the words i believe are once again Steven Sater. You can tell by how the kids phrase many of the songs that Duncan was the guide to them as they sound like songs he'd sing. I like this album but Duncan doesn't sing on any of these songs. (so in many cases it really isn't his album persay) Still, it's a worthwhile purchase....i'd just get it after eveything else....

    Here's a good tune by DS... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2bS5-TllBY

Sorry for anyone who tried to listen earlier. It pasted an old link!

and the hits just a keep on comin.....

Rolling into the end of the week and i needed my "end of the week song" to send out. It's a band which is a solo project from a group called Rilo Kiley. The group is called The Elected and the lead singer is Blake Sennett. I just find it as catchy as can be.

The other is a band which is fun and kinda sorta weird but is another personal fav. They are now broken up but had a nice run. For your enjoyment, Clem Snide....

Thought i'd toss on a song which everyone might not know. It's the Doors, The Soft Parade. It was a tune i'd love to play at this bar i used to frequent because...well....it's a crazy long ditty.

Yes, good album. I still dig Talib today - especially when he works with Jean Grae..

This Beatles / Shaggy mashup is really great! The first 2 and a half minutes is the mashup - the rest of the video is crappy music and unwanted credits.
