    The Music Exchange

i know we have a lot of music nerds around here, so i thought i might start a thread where we could recommend things we like to each other. rare music, weird music, mainstream music, whatever you like. i like many different kinds of music, but i'm sure some of you like things that i've never heard of, and vice versa.

post links to websites, vids, or artists and songtitles, whatever!

here is my contribution for today!

    ESG - Moody (1983)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBq_sv9N-gk

The Feelies - Loveless Love (1980)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfx3SARoNA8

    Enjoy!

If you're looking for weird, I was manic this weekend so I was listening to Free Jazz (it's the only thing, when I'm up really high, that I can tolerate because it's so fast-paced and treble clef).

Check out some Albert Ayler here: http://www.amazon.com/Live-Greenwich...0603163&sr=8-2

I listened to the Albert Ayler samples. That music is too abstract for me to follow. I bet it would sound much better to me during a thunderstorm. I'm gonna' save it on the computer and try it out.

I know it's mainstream-ish, but the Shins latest record "Wincing the Night Away" I can't get out of my head. Great album.

I just don't end up where think I'm going when I start out.

    lately

def leppard-songs from the sparkle lounge.....their best album in 15 years.....has some bite to it....theres a ballad on there called "love" which sounds like they were listening to "a night at the opera" when they recorded it...their best ballad possibly since "heartbreak"

a song about all the hollywood fallout girls called "bad actress"

a killer opener called "go" and a good follow up called "nine lives"

a solid fairly strong album compared to the debacles that were "x" and "euphoria"

    Madonna-hard candy

i really am liking this album.....reminds me of bedtime stories....

    killer closer called "voices"

and a song with kanye "the beat goes on"

4 minutes i like but the best groover off the album to me was "give it to me"

    gnarls barkley -the odd couple

for "whos gonna save my soul". "would be killa" and "whatever" alone is worth the price of admission

and the soundtrack to the psp game final fantasy 7 crisis core....adaptations of nobue uematsu s work.... and the best version of the nibleheim theme ive ever heard as well as a radical reworking of "one winged angel"

till next time...my balcony is closed....for renovations.....
the vibe says syxx so let it be syxx......

Just listened to that song BE and it reminded me of Scott Walker and also one song from the Guess Who. (something they did in 68 off of Wheafield Soul)

Which leads me to my next picks...

I dug the music! Never actually heard them before but actually heard OF them.

Here's my selection for the day....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG6yO...eature=related

It's Gorkys Zygotic Mynci a now defunct Welsch band who sort of became popular sometime in the late 90's when Super Furry Animals also was getting pub.

Here's also the guy by himself now...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE8xruQvqow

His name is Euros Childs and the album CHOPS is worth pick-up if you like oddball little albums.
