    Headin to Philly

Hello family. I am heading to Philly in the next week or so and wanted to see if there was anyone in the surrounding area I could hook up with. I'll be there on business from 6/24-6/28 and will be pretty much free during the evenings. If anyone lives nearby it'd be awesome to hang for a bit. I know Jersey is just on the other side of the river but I don't know how long it takes to get near Be or Coz, but I'm more than happy to hang with anyone that has time. Hit me back. Oh yeah, I won't have a car so train, bus, cab, or subway. I can get around.

You won't be too far from me and not really far at all from Be, but you'll need a car.

Why the hell would you wanna go to Philly anyway? Nothing there but Philadelphians.
    Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

Well depending on where they book my hotel I could end up having to rent a car and then its on. I would have rather gone to Hawaii, but they didn't think that was that funny. The workshop I have to go to is right next to City Hall off Market St. so I don't know where that puts me in terms of closeness. I've been told I gotta try a cheese steak when I get there. I think that even if I don't get to hang with ya Coz or Be and Greg, I'll try to get over to Jersey just to say I've been there. Here's hoping I get to get over to ya.

You should be close to south street. There are a bunch of hotels right on market that are relatively innexpensive and within walking distance of city hall. South street is where you can go for "the famous" cheesesteaks. They are decent but there are better off south street.

If you get the chance to head over to the university of pennsylvania campus I would recommend stopping in on Abners at 3813 Chestnut St. Much better cheesesteaks than pats. Although most people would expect you to get from Pat's so you can say you ate there.

Yeah, cheese steaks are about the only decent things that come out of Philly these days. Too bad you have to deal with Philadelphia and Piladelphians to get them.

If you get a car you're about a half hour away from Be (IF he's home, which I doubt) and an hour and a half away from me. If you just want to go to Jersey it's just a leisurely walk across the Ben Franklin bridge.

I forget that most people don't walk as much as us New Yorkers do. It's barely longer than the Brooklyn Bridge, and we walk across that all the time. Thousands of New Yorkers walk to work in Manhattan and back across it every single day. I'm sure folks cross the Ben Franklin from Camden into Philly just as leisurely.

I got no beef with walking other than the heat, but then hey I'm from Texas and all. I don't know if they are going to let me get a car or not, well I should say re-imburse me for a car if I get one. If I knew Be was going to be around and we could all kick it Coz I'd pay it myself. Sure there isn't a train or somethin I can take? heh. I don't know what time of the day my workshop will be gettin out each day and what traffic is like. Once I find out a bit more info I let ya know. It would have been nice to hang with Lou too but dangit I don't think Pittsburg is that close. Anyway I'll keep ya'll posted. I think I got your number somewhere around here if I can get over to ya Coz, but if not I'll have to get it again. I do know that Be and Greg are playin somewhere on the 29 or somethin but it would be nice to catch him at home.

I'm sure there is some kinda train from Philly to where Be lives.

You can take Amtrak and I think NJ Transit from Philly to NYC, then you'll have to take the subway or catch a cab. Major excursion.

Ahh...no! I can get to Detroit, Michigan faster than I can get to Philly. You're looking at a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Philly.

I was born in Detroit, sir. I have relatives that live in Port Huron, MI, so I actually pass Detroit to get there.

Well I'm in Philly and but I'm not getting alot of time to travel around. I hate that I can't get car and drive over to Jersey, but I'll get over there somehow another time. I'll get back with you guys later since I'm on a co-workers laptop.
