    Article

This article (or a modified version of it) ran in some local papers across the country. This specific one was for the last concert on the tour, in Tulsa, OK.

I thought you guys might enjoy the read, and the chance to rip it to shreds. (I don't mind...)

    Memories of Bliss
    Jeremy Johnson, Correspondent
    November 29, 2006 / Tulsa, Ok

In 1991, brothers Attrell and Jarrett Cordes (aka "Prince Be" and
"DJ Minutemix") broke onto the national hip-hop music scene with their
international smash hit single "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss." They
went on to release a handful of hits and 4 albums over the next 9
    years.

"I'll never forget it," Prince Be said in a recent interview. "On Nov. 11
we were No. 1, Michael Jackson was second and Prince third. It was
    amazing."

For 20 years, P.M. Dawn has had a loyal fan base - affectionately
called the Utopianites - and recently those fans have made it clear
that they want more. To answer this call, cousins Prince Be and former
P.M. Dawn show opener Dr. G (Greg Lewis) have embarked cross-
country on a 40-city tour, traveling from venue to venue in what they
    have dubbed "the Bliss Van."

Yes, it's really a van. No huge tour buses, no arenas.

When you go to see P.M. Dawn, you won't see a line of security guards
between fan and artists. There aren't any fancy lights or stage
design, no pyrotechnics, and no $85 seats. Everyone gets a "back-stage
pass", though it's likely the only thing you'll find "back-stage" is a
bathroom. If you want to shake hands, share some love with a hug, or
take a group photo, they'll happily oblige, just hang out after the
show. Got a question you didn't get to ask? Their cell phone number is
posted on myspace- but "call after 7 pm Eastern, please."

We recently caught up with the "Bliss Boys" in Lincoln, Nebraska, where
they played at local venue Knickerbockers.

Q: So, are you tired of everyone wanting to hear "Set Adrift on Memory
Bliss" and "Looking Through Patient Eyes?"

Dr. G: "Not at all- we're not divas by any means. That's the diva
attitude- 'Oh, I can't possibly do that song!' Man, we'll sing
    anything!"

Q: Where have you been hiding yourselves since the last album?

Prince Be: "I've been hanging out with my son, Christian, going to
show-and-tell and trying not to be show-and-tell. It's just great to
be out here around all of our fans again."

Q: If you had to pick a favorite P.M. Dawn song, would be be one of
the older ones, or something new?

Prince Be: "Set Adrift [on Memory Bliss], I'd Die Without You and
Looking Through Patient Eyes are my three best friends. They've bailed
me out of every situation-- just when I think I'm about to hit the
ground, Set Adrift comes and keeps me going."

P.M. Dawn travels on from Nebraska to Colorado, California, Phoenix,
Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, North and South Carolina, Michigan,
    New Orleans, and Florida.

They'll be playing at Boston's in in Tulsa, 1738 S Boston Ave, on
    December 9th.

I think it makes them out to be talkable and personal. Too many artists have the better than thou attitude.

They are the most approachable people I've ever interviewed. Greg is the most real person I've ever interviewed. Completely down to earth.

pmdawnlovesyou isn't just a saying, they mean it. It's so real it's kind of scary.

I like the article, because it's really how Be and Greg are. I'm glad it ran.

Nice work, except for the "20 years" part. Last time I looked 1991 was 15 years ago.
    Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

I think the 20 years was from something they said. 1991 was just the first hit- I'm not sure when the first "fan" arrived on scene!!

    Facts, facts, who needs facts!

Well, it is probably closer to 20 than 15, isn't it? Wasn't the first single (Ode to a Forgetful Mind) (c) 1989? In a couple of weeks it will be 2007 - that's closer to 18 years... Were they on the scene before their single you worked on?

Then again - a "loyal" fan base of other that family, neighbors, and personal friends probably did not start until 1991... yea, 15-16 years ago...
    Peace

Nah, they weren't on any scene outside of my basement and the storage room at Warlock.

Be told me that "Jam On It" was the first record that he ever bought, and that was only 23 years ago. 20 years ago he was like 15.
