    Black vs. Mainstream TV Viewership

I thought this data that I found on the Neilsen rating site might be interesting to fit in with the current "discussion" about African-American TV viewership. The first table is a list of the top 10 programs for the country. The second table is a list of the top 10 programs for African-American households. Check this out.

    10 SHARK CBS 11.2 2028

I find it interesting that African-Americans aren't watching "Desperate Housewives", and mainstream doesn't watch "Day Break", "Girlfriends" or "All of Us", or at least as much as AA households do. Mind you this is one week's worth of data, but I think it's an interesting look at the viewership differences between the two.

I find it funny from a personal standpoint that I watch NONE of the mainstream programming on that top 10 list for last week, NOT ONE.

I do watch "Girlfriends" and "All of Us" on the AA list.

I didn't either, Louis. I Tivo'd Shark (haven't watched it yet), and my wife watched Desparate Housewives, but other than that...

I watched Heroes (freaking awesome), Studio 60, Smallville, and last week that was about it. If it was on (and not in re-runs) I'd watch Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, but alas we have to wait a while for them to come back. Oh, and I did watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. I noticed yesterday you could download Avatar on XBox Live Marketplace (they turned on a bunch of stuff yesterday, lots of shows).

there we go, just right. keep walking...

I didn't watch any show on either list outside of perhaps 15 minutes of Deal Or No Deal, and I watch a LOT of TV. The wife watches Grey's Anatomy, but I haven't bothered to give it a chance yet.

I think I watch more CW than anything now, next to Sportscenter.

"Everybody Hates Chris", "Veronica Mars", "7th Heaven", "All of Us", "Smallville", "Girlfriends," and "The Game". I like "Friday Night Lights" and "The Wire" of course.

Outside of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Wire" I have not watched even one show of any of those. If an actor who plays a character on any of those shows went on a racial tirade I wouldn't even knew who he/she was.

I agree with Yvette. I thought it was crap from the commercials, but then I watched an episode and it was pretty hilarious.

When we performed in Miami we shared a dressing room with Soul Sonic Force. Ikey C insisted on watching Girlfriends!

First season of veronica mars was simply brilliant.. (definitely get the dvd) second season was good but a lower standard.. 3rd season has been disappointing..theyve been trying to appeal to the gilmore girls audience and its not that kind of show.. its a smart film noir drama.. the ratings for veronica mars havent been good and it looks like it wont make it to another season

Just give me my Battlestar Galactica, and I'm a happy man. I watch a few shows, but that's the only one I can't stand to miss.

I love that show, but don't have cable. And I'm sick of seeing every other episode when I can finagle invitations to watch it at other peoples' houses. So I'm going to have to get it on netflix or something.

I usually watch the CSI's, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Shark. And I've been watching Girlfriends in syndication.

But that's because I have bunny ears and only get 7 channels.
