cost of setting cat's broken leg

Has anyone ever had a cat with a broken leg and had it set? After pulling forward a few feet to back out of my driveway, I felt a small bump and immediately jumped out of my car to see my cat running away, dragging her back leg, and moaning.

It's too late for a vet right now, so I put her into a bed with food and water nearby to rest. Our other cat just held its leg up for a month or so when it was broken, and then it was fine, but I'm worried about this one because she's older. Anyway, does anybody know about how much it would cost to get a cast on her or whatever they do?

I'm willing to bet the full blown setup to be about $800-$1000

To just get a cast put on assuming they don't need to take x-rays then you're looking at a few hundred bucks probably.

A friend has been there and done that with a dog, wasn't cheap.

Bring her in and get her x-rayed. Cats have very flexible bones, and it might not be broken. However, if she's really old, then it might be.

Hax is right. It'll prolly be about $500-$1000 depending what needs to be done. Once you bring her in and find out the cost, you might want to call your car insurance company and see if your car insurance will cover it.

ouch, that sucks, i hope your kitty ends up being fine...i had a cat that had to get it's hip worked on... it was pretty expensive...at least 1000.
On another note, just got back from the ER. My grandma fell today, and broke her hand, she's got a nice cast on it now.

I shut the garage door on my cats leg once. She held it straight out in front of her for years. Do you have any veterinary schools around there? I had a dachshund that became paralyzed a couple years ago, and Perdue did the surgery for free. They did a good job too cause she can walk again.
