Not that I know of...
I'm not signing this without my lawyer.
ILLEGAL AS HELL if not
America needs a Tennessee Volunteer
I doubt if it's illegal. It's done on Myspace all the time.
Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
"Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
Yeah...

It may not be illegal, but it's completely lame when a Myspace entry has nothing to do with the person it's for. It's called "Myspace", not Hisspace or Herspace.Originally Posted by Cozmo D
BTW, don't fool around with Myspace. It's a cult.
And don't buy a Saturn, either. That's a cult, too.
"What, Wheeljak? You fell in that open manhole?
How is that possible?
I posted 'CAUTION: OPEN MANHOLE' on my Facebook page!"
Do you suppose they have paid ASCAP fees for each stream of the 4 songs? If so, I hope Be and JC get a share of the $$. I suspect they are infringing copyrights for those songs.Originally Posted by Cozmo D

And here is how worried they are about copyright law. They probably hope to make everything go away with this FAQ:
Q. How do I report a copyright violation?
A. If you believe that your copyright-protected work has been copied and posted on MySpace.com in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide our Copyright Agent with the following information: (i) an electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest; (ii) a description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed; (iii) a description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the Website; (iv) your address, telephone number, and email address; (v) a written statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; (vi) a statement by you that the above information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf. 13 times played today. How many of those were us?
there we go, just right. keep walking...
As an aside, MySpace is run on ColdFusion (I'm on the ColdFusion Engine team) and according to different statistic sites is either the fifth or most visited site on the web each day. If you're older than like 25 or so, though, you have no idea what myspace is. (I didn't till we made them go into license compliance with CF server licenses...)

me and frek are on myspace if any1 wants to add us..
I've got amnesia.. I can't remember..

whats with all the "friends" ?????? some of them appear to be fake entries.. did some pm dawn fan make that account for promotion?? very weird..
if the songs are getting played that often and its in that little player only then maybe its doing more promotion than harm.. myspace is a little weird

i dont think theres anyway for an artist to get paid through myspace other than just promotion. all the accounts and hosting services are free. you are suppose to own the copyright to any material you post when you make a music account. i doubt the guy who made this had any malice intended, some people make an account for a band they like because the band themselves hadnt done so and wish to promote them.
yeah what frek said..

Hey, Brian, ask Be what he thinks about replacing those songs with the ones that freely stream from pmdawn.net (I assume there is no problem with those). In that case, Be could write in to the admins on the site saying it is his (band's) name and they will most likely give him control. Then he could give you guys who run things the keys to that and we can make it a nice place. That could do lots of promotion with the younger crowd... - if that is what we / PM dawn is looking for. Links to Amazon for buying the CDs, etc.
Peace
I like that idea.

myspace is out of control and full of bull
BTW, add me to your friends list please....
Seems they do know about ASCAP - infact they seem to be partnering with them:
About ASCAP Atlanta
ASCAP and MySpace.com have partnered together to put on a show in your community. We have booked a show in the area, and are leaving one slot open for a band we find through MySpace...it could be you! If you are a songwriter or in a band in Atlanta, all you need to do is add us as your friend, drop us a line, leave us a comment. Get in our face and you have a chance to play a great show on December 5th at Smiths Olde Bar with A Fir-Ju Well, Sovus Radio and The Gates Of Berlin! Be sure to visit our main MySpace for updates and more info about ASCAP! www.myspace.com/ascap
