Sigh...I really wish these fukkin songs could mix themselves...now there's some software that I would actually PAY for...
    Alright
Tap the lightpole and we'll be jammin all night
And ain't nobody callin' the cops
'Cause everybody's here freakin', if they're older they're doin the rock
And every block from all around
Comes runnin' to the park when they hear the sound
And soon the word's spreadin' through our part of town
    "Yo, 40 Park y'all, Jam-On's gettin down"
    Yeah...

come'on coz, i KNOW you got the skillz, don't get lazy on us!!

to be honest i like mixing--but i spend way to much fuckin time on production instead of arrangement. somehow i gotta learn to arrange first, then mess with production aspects

Nahhh..not yet Atma, but I'ma look for it.

I spend MOST of my time on writing and arranging, but I find that really enjoyable. Unfortunately I'm a fukkin tweak freak, so I work on shit forever. That's where my problem with mixing comes in...I'M NEVER FUKKIN SATISFIED!!! I just finished a mix that should have taken me about 6 hours...took me 4 fukkin days...

Now mastering I cheat in...Free Filter and Wave Hammer and I'm done...heheheheh. Master a 20 song CD in 2 hours!

:madrant: that's why i was pissed at never seeing/recieving the in depth review that you did on those two albums i asked you to listen to.... one of the things i was asking you was for any tips you could give on mastering them properly.... i enjoy mixing to an extent, but prolly for the opposite reason that you hate it, cuz i'm a tweekhead too, for me mixing a track is like playing with legos!

why wave hammer?? that waves L2 is the sickest limiter i've ever used, period. i think sonic foundry's dsp algorithms are a little shoddy to be honest

I'm taking classes on mixing (I'm getting certified as a sound engineer) and the mixing is my favorite part! I've got an idea. Just send me your tracks and I'll mix them. Good for you (you get your trax mixed) and good for me (I get more experience). Deal? Deal.

I'm just waiting for the trax...

    Still waiting...

    Coz?
I just don't end up where think I'm going when I start out.

btw coz, that waves ir1 along with the 2 cds worth of reverb impulses (which you definately want) are up on this site:

    http://audiotorrent.ath.cx:6969/

on the top left of the page there's a link to "shadow's experimental" version of bittorrent--this is a tiny program that'll let you download the files from other people, works like a charm!

www.SuprNova.org or www.suprnova.tk is a good place to find other torrents as well.

Thanx Atma...hopefully it'll still be there when I get back.

I used to use the Waves L1 and then L2 when that came out, but what I would find was I would tweak that shit for hours and then end up doing it over and over...just as bad as mixing. My problem is the more choices I am given I end up trying them over and over...So I would EQ forever in Q10, then tweak some more in L2, fukk around with the bass with Maxxbass...take me 2 fukkin days to fukkin master 1 fukkin song! Then I still got the whole rest of the fukkin album to do...And I'm STILL HATIN THE MASTERING RESULTS!!! :bash: Usually end up with shit over limited and too fukkin much bass! :ugh:

Now I just find a few well mastered songs that come close to matching the aural feel of the stuff that I'm mastering...use them for the source in Freefilter and couple that with Wave Hammer. I just set Wave Hammer to Mastering 16bit, don't fukk with nothing else except changing it from Peak to RMS and Look Longer Ahead...AND I'M FUKKIN DONE!!! :fruit:

So far I've really loved the results...way better than just about any mastering job that I've ever done...and most that I've had professionally done as well.

In fact, I just took King Just's entire 1st album of 17 trax "Mystics Of The God", added 26 more trax to make a double album, and used this technique on the whole thing using only "That's What I'm Waiting For" by Jermaine Dupree & Tha Brat for the source in Freefilter. Worked like a charm! The whole album...both CDs...are matched beautifully in volume, EQ and nuance, with only the occasional flaws from a few of the mixes coming through. It even fixed a good many of the poorer mixes in ways I never thought it would or even could. Anybody who bought "Mystics" from Select is gonna be pissed when they hear this shit...heheheh...blows their shit away like it was never even mastered. Did the whole thing in just a few hours too!

For me this just worx better. When I finish a mix I wanna be DONE, not just gettin started. Back in the day I would just drop the tape off at the lab...now I've got the next best thing.

Well, Coz..i just read ur post...and I'm sure u prolly just need a moment to yourself. One thing about me is that I'm a perfectionalist with my drawings., and If I cant get something just right...i can spend all night long working on it, im talkin 14 hours STRAIT...but i learned to put it aside. and when i come back, A lil bit of inspiration always seems to hit me, juuuust right. cuz,...its usually way better than I thought, and then I can see my lil flaws abit more clearly and fine tune it from there...

I know u got work to do brU...but, sometimes its those "few moments" to appreciate yourself for everything u've done to this point,...and when u go back at it,...this is what builds that drive... (u know,...that undescribly good feelin in ur stomache) back up...

anyways,..i prolly aint makin no sense...LOL...

    :P

    peace,
