wow...well i cant possibly sit here and reply to everything ive just read, but a few key things that stick out here are... yup, i was pi$$ed when i couldnt get the album, and i dont think anyone is tryna really c why.. it is becuase at one point i was ' good enough' to get it, then all of the sudden i wasnt. now, what i mean by 'good enough' is: it was available to everyone, then because of the shipping/sueing problems it was stopped. BUT then it became available to 'friends' that didnt make sense to me, and not that anyone would give a damn, it was unfair...from my perspective, and a few others...but the whole thing is, i wasnt bitchin about that..i wanted to at least know why. and no one REALLY said (back then). anyways... elizibeth, i think u understand my situation, or feel for that, and yeah its cool when someone else knowz where u r coming from. i dont kno what previous problem you r speaking on, maybe it all happened for the months i was banned etc, but i hope it all works out okay 4 u. to whomever said whatever about raping a girl bla bla bla....its not like that c...i didnt go and steal the album from him, i was givin a 'fake ' of it, so that would b like my chick sayin no to sex, and me grabbing a hooker or blowup doll..cause ya damn str8, if my gyrl says she isnt havin sex no more, then i need to find me another, cause thats how important the sex is 2 me.. well, thats how important hearing the music is. i havent burnt it for a soul. and i never intended to. i think i told u all how my pops loves the music now, and he askes if i have anything he can listen to b4 he buys (picky consumer) and i never once gave him f'd music, cause i know he would want a copy, but c, i dont burn shyt for people, if its artists i like, for instance, i got a promo of 'bad boys greatest hits' i burnt that for some because the cd is shyt, no time effort etc was really put in2 the songs, they r all shyt, and puff made them to get his pockets lumpy, so fuck him.. artists like a.keys, m.gaye, 2pac etc..people who really put effort in2 thier shyt, i wont burn..feel me? i have made no money off getting the album, and had no intentions to. i, at one time, felt really shitty because i couldnt get the album, and i WAITED for it to drop FOREVER. i kno u can ALL c my dissapointment, and i kno U ALL have been there b4. as far as whingin, and whoever said that shyt..f-off. i aint whining, i aint tryna earn sympathy, i came here to state my mind. hard times good times etc, whatever whoever had said about it..i know this stuff, i aint 5. i speak bluntly..but at least u kno i aint a liar. i dont kiss ass, wont, if u and i (whoever) dont get along, then it wasnt meant to be. speaking of BE, i wasnt rubbing it in anyones faces, i was p-o'd. period... did i dis-respect your wishes? yeah i did. to benefit me? yeah it was. piss u off? yeah it did..but i sent you a pm or two, and waited for a response, and there were none, now I KNOW you got your own things to worry about, but i waited a minute b4 i went looking for mp3s of the album, and yeah, of course someone was going to be sympathetic..and for the record, a few more people than admit it, have burnt coppies of the album. so,as far as oweing anyone anything, i agree, to an extent..but its like this: youre the general, we r the army. we r loyal to you. now your army will follow u in2 battle no matter what...but when u stop clothing/feeding etc your troops they will get tired and worn downhow do u expect your troops to come to your shows, and promote you if u yourself arent supplying them with what they have replied on your for , for so long? why go to a show? so i can c u perform songs i will never own? so i can feel like less than everyone else? and f- whoever said the clique thing doesnt exist, or that im bythcing about it..its there, its true. BE, in all honesty, i appologize for disrespecting your wishes, and im bein real honest here, but i am glad that i got to hear the album. it wasnt out of disrespect, it was out of luv for the music... im like a base head when it comes 2 your music, i feind 4 it. out of my all time favorite artists you guys r in the top 3. my last ppost under my other name, it was absolutely a 'throw it in your face' type thing. i was angry, and again, knowing that i made the 'mistake' of doing that, i appologize. to everyone here who wanted to call names and revert to 3rd grade methods fk off, to those who jus gave thier oppinions, thanks for being civil, and to everyone else..im the same muthafu%$#a that i always have been. so, i take it i aint gonna be banned..cool..although i dont really kno why,because, well..because... Obviously, you have absolutely no concept of intellectual property.

The music that was on that so-called fake CD or files belongs to Be. Just because it doesn't have the fringe benefits of graphics or original sound quallity does not change that fact. It is Be's music that you obtained illegally and without Be's permission. Perhaps someone needs to take YOUR music...that YOU worked so hard to produce...and distribute it in a way that would piss YOU off in order for YOU to understand the point. I HAVE had it happen to me, just as Be HAS had it happen to him...and it IS just like a rape!

You are no longer deemed even worth banning by Be, so it looks like you're still here for now...though I do suggest that you find another subject.

And you chose this new name...the old 1 still leaves a bad taste in my mouth anyway...good luck finding some other admin who wants to go through the trouble of unbanning it for you.

Here's some personal background to see if I can bring things into a bit of perspective. I was on the old forum, yes, yes I was. I had first got in contact with Brian, when I found the site. It pissed me off to no end that I had found the place, right freakin after the album was no longer available. I tried to get a copy, even asked for it to be burned for me. I of course got a personal response from Be himself and a few others about asking for someone to burn it. Out of respect and being a newb to the place I of course ceased all attempts to procure it in that manner. At the time, it wasn't clear if it was going to be sold again, so I just waited with baited breath. Time passed, the forum changed, people came and went. I got to know the people round here and Be, often chatting with everyone in the chatroom. When the album was finally offered again, I was like..OH YES!!, and I PM'ed Be with my information and thanked him for the chance to get it again. At that time, there was no 'friends' status, he said those that he felt were his friends and wanted to have it. Did I get it, no I didn't. Was I sad, that I didn't get it, yes I was. Did I bitch about it, no..no I didn't, because it was Be's right to give it to who he felt he wanted to. I'm not in the music business, but I understood why he couldn't give it out anymore commercially, and why he only wanted certain people to have it. Before I go any further for those of you that don't know..I still don't have it..my own copy that is. Have I heard it..of course I have. Now, I appreciate the fact that jon(thaprice) admitted that he was wrong and apoligized, but what I think he is searching for is why he didn't deserve it once it was offered again. Well, like I said, I have talked to Be in chat, just as many of the rest of you, but I felt that even though I felt that Be considered me his friend he didn't know me personally well enough to give me the album. As far as being worthy of it then not being, that's not the case exactly. He offered it to everyone commercially per say, but then had to pull it for what ever the reasons(irrelavant..period). When HE decided to offer it to those he felt close to, it had nothing to do with the fact that it was previously available to everyone. He could no longer have it free floating out there for just anyone to have, but still recognized that his friends and those he felt close enough too missed out. If you feel slighted by the fact that Be didn't feel close to you..tough..so did I, but you can't make someone feel close to you just by chatting with them or posting on their fan forum. Skip forward to today, or at least when Be offered to give it out again. Like he said, he didn't give any stipulations as to who would and wouldn't get it, he just said PM him..and he's already given his response to not being able to PM. Me, I didn't bother because I don't need it anymore, having one to listen to now (still not my own). If you're problem is with the fact that you can't PM, you could have posted and said, hey Be..I can't PM..is there any other way I can send you my information..plain and simple, leaving it once again, his judgement call as to who gets it. There are people here that are 'friends' as far as the posting goes that still don't have the album for whatever reasons, but we deal with it. I think we all have a hunger for PM Dawn music, hell I've had each cd at least 2-3 times cuz I play them so much and carry them with me all the time, not to mention before cd when I had each tape like 2 times cuz I wore them out. Do I feel I've earned a copy of F'ked..you know what..no I don't actually. For all the time I've spent here and talking with Be and others only Be can tell me when I've earned that right to get it or any other album or song he puts out and gives only to those he feels close to. Now if you still don't understand why you couldn't have it when it was offered the first time, then I don't think we can help you understand.

The only way I could ever sympathize with "Tha Prince" is if he payed for it and didn't get it. There were many of those.....for sure. But getting a copy without paying for it is totally wrong.

First of all, I'm figuring that the main reason that you just can't get to understanding the concept of intelectual property is you don't make a living from your music. Perhaps if you relied on your music to eat you would have more respect for the wishes and feelings of the next man who has to do the same.

To answer the exact question that you posed, if you already posess the song in mechanical format (CD, Tape, Vinyl, whatever) then when you transfer it to another mechanical format FOR YOURSELF you are archiving it...which is fine. HOWEVER...if you do it for somebody else, who has not already purchased the EXACT VERSION of the song in question, YOU ARE ILLEGALLY DISTRIBUTING IT! I've got other news for you...you can sing the song as much as you want...but if you sing it in public YOU ARE LEGALLY SUPPOSED TO PAY!

Now...let us try to take the case at hand in a more monetarial sense, maybe that'll help. Here we have a situation where BECAUSE OF LEGAL ISSUES an album has to be pulled. Still, this is an important and very personal album to the artist for many reasons...and though the fine for each copy that is found to be illegally distributed is $50,000.00 per...he still decides to share it with his FRIENDS! To back himself up as much as possible he no longer accepts compensation for the album...which would make the case FELONIOUS...and sends it only to people that he feels he knows and TRUSTS!

Now, think about if YOU are that artist and somebody who has helped to jeopardize your livelyhood and freedom now comes at you to brag about it and berate you for having the gall to try to cover your ass by giving this album only to your friends...would YOU feel kindly towards this person? Would YOU feel that you owed this person anything...even an explanation?

Quick summary. The album was no longer available. The album's owner said he was willing to share it with a couple of friends. You said that you were not willing to be his friend, but he should give you the album anyway. The album's owner declined to do so. You managed to get a copy of it from somewhere else, then got in the album's owner's face and bragged about it and berated him. The album's owner said "get outa my face" and you were banned. You sneakily find a way to get back in and reapproach the album's owner...but are foiled because your new identity can't send PMs yet. Then you say "AHA, I'm the same guy that berated you before, and I still don't wanna be your friend, but I'm a big fan of your music so I deserve to have the album anyway!"

This is the last I'll say to you on this subject. I, probably much like you, have very little problem with MP3s. I have actually taken some of my music and turned it into MP3 myself and distributed it for free. I feel flattered and honored when I see the vast amount of MP3s of my stuff that's out there. Hell, I've even found stuff that I produced and no longer have copies of and hadn't heard for years on MP3. I reserve my hatred for those...and there are many...who are bootlegging my shit or have it on compilations without my permission or compensation.

My only reason into going through all of this with you is because I have respect for all of us who would try and enter the perfidious struggle that is the music industry. If you remember, I too gave you some long and well thought out advice on the industry eons ago. The fact that Be had helped you out when you were going through a dire time of need, and you still felt it nescessary to disrespect him the way you did, regardless of how you felt about it...I'm sorry, but it says something about your character.
