ok, i seriously should be getting some of those old yunes i made on my playstation online soon,

in the meantime, i have a new pc, and i wondered if anyone could reccomened a decent music program, i want a drag and drop sorta thing that i can load samples into, snares, kicks etc so i can fuck around with it and have a fair amount of control over things.

i got a sony vaio system which uses an onboard sound chip set up which is usually shit but it happens to be a fairly decent yamaha one with digital ins and outs and xg midi and stuff.
so alough i dont think"im not sure really" that i have a dedicated soundcard i know that what is there is pretty good, certainly better than the seperate card i had on my old system which cost a shitload when it was new.

    still let me know, fd.

reason's good for that, i'd say cubase sx and battery though cuz you'd have more power but it aint really set up for beats like reason is......course you could run reason and cubase side by side too. there's acid which you might like too, but i don't really know shit about it. ummm you are on xp right? does this sound card have asio drivers available do you know? what's the processer and ram too

yeah fd man that's fine, ya might look at more ram maybe, it's a relatively cheap upgrade.....i use a gig but it's only sdram, your shit might be rd and i'm on a p4 1.6 so your fine........i have a 20 gig and ate it up like nothin with samples, so i got a second 120 gig but 40 should hold ya off for quite a while. yeah, once ya get a soft sampler goin i'll help ya fill your hard drive wit drum kit samples, so ya don't gotta pay the monkey so much  oh yeah, your OS is XP?

SDram is good, but DDR is better, and RD kicks both their ass.

I have reason, cubase, and soundforge. Reason is confusing for me but I haven't worked with all that shit in real life like coz has. Soundforge is simple and to the point so that's usually what I use to do my stuff with. Once I get more experienced with reason I might start using it.

soundforge is just a basic wav editor though, it's not a sequencer or multitrack recorder. i edit all my samples with soundforge, but you can't use it to make tracks with.

& i think it's the other way around.. you gotta start using reason get experience with it

Actually, I've never done anything with Reason except play around with it for like 10 minnits here and there...but it seems pretty ez to me.

Soundforge is essential for audio editing and mastering (though I preferr Wavelab myself, juse because of the way it handles plug-ins)...can't do much more than that though.

I'm an old-school technofile...so ALL of the sounds that I use professionally in recording are hardware based...though I will use the occasional DSP Plug-in in a mix.

Oh...and from what I've researched DDR is better than RD...but I could be wrong.
