I was listening to a little Sly and the Family Stone, and I decided to google him to see if there was any recent news about him; I've been dreaming of a comeback for almost 20 years now. I found out that he had been scheduled to perform at the 2010 Coachella Music Festival, and I was excited! I looked up the festival, and he was, indeed on the lineup. Unfortunately, next thing I found out was how pathetic his reappearance was; he was three hours late showing up, and when he did show up onstage, he didn't sing more than a couple of bars-- he was just rolling around the stage on an office chair, rambling about something-or-other, and ranting about how people stole his money. I would have been furious styles if I had spent my money to go to that thing (and I might have, had I had time off work and known about it before the fact). I'm really mad at him, for allowing his fans to get their hopes up, and then crushing their hearts like that.

I'm kind of double-minded about posting this YouTube clip, because it's so shameful, but anyway...
Look at the deflated looks on the faces of the original Family Stone members. They might have been looking forward to this reunion performance, then this happens. I feel so bad for them.

I still have hopes for him, though. :(

Actually,. they have been out touring again for some time now. I posted a video on FB of them performing "If You Want Me To Stay" from 2008 that was dope!

Here it is...

Thanks, Cozmo. Now, that's what I'm looking for! That was great.
I hope that, in the future, Sly will leave that crazy stuff to Amy Winehouse.

I was blown away by the clip that Coz put on YouTube... still an awesome band... As far as the rambling goes... he's an old dude, and entitled to a rant every now and again. Showing three hours late? THAT's fucked.

The rant isn't what bothers me-- it's that he didn't play that night. After showing up three hours late, that's adding insult to injury.

Wow...that first clip looked like he was on something. Just totally out of it, rambling, wandering around, down in the pit leaning against the stage, telling the band to cycle from song to song. What the hell?
