Will Smith's new album born to reign contains an "interpolation" of Newcleus' "Jam on It,"

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

its funny how things always interconnect!

i wonder how much money you get for an interpolation as opposed to being sampled though..

NO SHIT!!!

Thanx Tim, I had no idea.

Unfortunately (for me, not for Will), what they did by interpolating it was smart. An interpolation means that you replayed elements of the song without using any of the actual sounds from the recording. Therefore, it does NOT have to be cleared, which of course usually can run major dollars. All they have to do is negotiate a publishing rate...and pay it of course...heheh chiching!!!

Now if they had sampled it, they would have to clear it (mucho dinero), most likely pay a royalty (on top of publishing), and maybe even include us in the credits (Will Smith featuring Newcleus). They would basicly be at the mercy of the sound rights owner (Rhino Records) and sync rights owner (EMI). By interpolating it Rhino doesn't get a dime.

Of course, I won't make as much money this way, but hey, I'm happy. I figure Will is good for at least double platinum, and hey, if they release it as a single I AM GROOVIN BABY!!!

Hey Tim, you wouldn't have any info on that would ya?

you know i think i figured out the track..i think they inrerpolated the bass line from jam on it

the track is called "how da beat goes" and if this is the track..oh boy..this could be absolutely huge..possibly no. 1 in the US big worldwide hit..the song is catchy as fuck..u can download the track at http://www.simplemp3s.com and its track 8

if this isnt the song with the interpolation..uhh sorry my mistake.. :donno:

but if it is the track..oh boy!! this track i think is definitely single material..it should be the next single..
