I thought this data that I found on the Neilsen rating site might be interesting to fit in with the current "discussion" about African-American TV viewership. The first table is a list of the top 10 programs for the country. The second table is a list of the top 10 programs for African-American households. Check this out.

I find it interesting that African-Americans aren't watching "Desperate Housewives", and mainstream doesn't watch "Day Break", "Girlfriends" or "All of Us", or at least as much as AA households do. Mind you this is one week's worth of data, but I think it's an interesting look at the viewership differences between the two.

I find it funny from a personal standpoint that I watch NONE of the mainstream programming on that top 10 list for last week, NOT ONE.
I do watch "Girlfriends" and "All of Us" on the AA list.

I didn't either, Louis. I Tivo'd Shark (haven't watched it yet), and my wife watched Desparate Housewives, but other than that...
I watched Heroes (freaking awesome), Studio 60, Smallville, and last week that was about it. If it was on (and not in re-runs) I'd watch Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, but alas we have to wait a while for them to come back. Oh, and I did watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. I noticed yesterday you could download Avatar on XBox Live Marketplace (they turned on a bunch of stuff yesterday, lots of shows).

I didn't watch any show on either list outside of perhaps 15 minutes of Deal Or No Deal, and I watch a LOT of TV. The wife watches Grey's Anatomy, but I haven't bothered to give it a chance yet. :D

I think I watch more CW than anything now, next to Sportscenter.
"Everybody Hates Chris", "Veronica Mars", "7th Heaven", "All of Us", "Smallville", "Girlfriends," and "The Game". I like "Friday Night Lights" and "The Wire" of course.

Outside of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Wire" I have not watched even one show of any of those. If an actor who plays a character on any of those shows went on a racial tirade I wouldn't even knew who he/she was.:haha:

I agree with Yvette. I thought it was crap from the commercials, but then I watched an episode and it was pretty hilarious.

veronica mars is fantastic, especially the first season (worth tracking down on dvd). the new season on cw is sort of blah so far though.

First season of veronica mars was simply brilliant.. (definitely get the dvd) second season was good but a lower standard.. 3rd season has been disappointing..theyve been trying to appeal to the gilmore girls audience and its not that kind of show.. its a smart film noir drama.. the ratings for veronica mars havent been good and it looks like it wont make it to another season :(

Just give me my Battlestar Galactica, and I'm a happy man. I watch a few shows, but that's the only one I can't stand to miss.

I love that show, but don't have cable. And I'm sick of seeing every other episode when I can finagle invitations to watch it at other peoples' houses. So I'm going to have to get it on netflix or something.
I usually watch the CSI's, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Shark. And I've been watching Girlfriends in syndication.
But that's because I have bunny ears and only get 7 channels.

Don't tell me that, Tim! I love that show and the characters on it. I will definitely miss it if it doesn't make it another season. And I agree with everyone else here who watched, the first season was great.

You have to see it before you judge.. theres so much more to this show than the setup.. It all is really complicated..its a great show.. I watched 8 episodes in a few days.. and dexter is far from being portrayed as a "hero"

I guess it goes back to that whole debate with Hart, I'd rather watch porn any day of the week.:leaving:

man, i have to concur with hiero about Dexter--one of the absolute best shows i've seen in a long time.. HIGHLY recommended. it definitely is disturbing, but in a much more subtle manner than you'd likely expect. it's a fascinating prospect to have a protagonist who's a complete sociopath, and yet you absolutely can't help but empathize with him and care about his character (a weird paradox as he's ostensibly incapable of feeling real emotion and empathizing with people). even for the faint-hearted, i'd recommend it, it's incredibly well written, witty, funny, challenging, engrossing.. it's everything good TV should be :)

Hey atma I agree.. the fact that this guy feels no emotions.. the relationship with his girlfriend is really interesting.. it seems like he's becoming more human as this relationship progresses.. and its quite amazing that they wrote a character who is a serial killer..yet you somehow like him.. The backstory of the incident as a child..and his relationship with his foster father is also really well written..and the show is also not as dark as you would think.. the fact that these guy cant feel any emotions and he's going around faking everything for everyone..I mean some of his personal thoughts (voiceovers) are fuckin hilarious.
