Another reason to move to Florida: I picked up my daughter from school in the convertable with the top down and the Bliss album blasting! :fingas:

Don't move to Miami! The average 2 bedroom house now costs around $290,000! Even 2 bedroom condos start in the $200s. And that's no guarantee that it's not in the ghetto.
The average house went up in value about $90,000 in the last year.
If you don't already own down here, good freaking luck.

If you plan to rent, expect to pay a substantial deposit and pay around $1300 or more for a 2 bedroom apartment (unless you want to live in the 'hood').

Our school populations are, on average, at 150%.

The pay here is very low.

Business transactions are commonly done in Spanish, broken English,Spanglish,Creole-with-hand-gestures, or curse words, which leads to major screw-ups all the time.

If you say hello to the wrong person, they will either give you a dirty look, say something lewd, or try to get you to buy something.

Every 3rd person is the wrong person.

Type in any Miami zip code on one of those sexual predator locator sites and there will be a $hitload of results.

Yeah, I'm looking to move......I just don't know where. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

Not ALL of the above, you do get paid well here. Of course, the rent and the houses cost a good double to 3 times more than she said too! :lmao:

Speak for yourself. I think the $15,000 a year I make is only considered "paid well" in third world nations like Alabama. :haha:

Nobody told you to sign yourself into indentured servitude. All the fukkin degrees you have and you're making about as much as a stock boy at Macy's. I was making more than that working as a token clerk in fukkin 1981! :rotf:

Yeah, I know. But I gotta look at the long term: making my own hours, only having to be in the office 6 hours a week, summers "off" (translation: I get to research and publish, but still), lying to myself that I'm making a difference in the world...I'm just a sucker for a cause...

and hey, only 4 or 5 more years to go. Maybe by the time I'm in my mid-30's I'll be able to, oh I don't, do crazy things...like pay off my student loans...no! think big! buy a used car...
