we only have a 10 inches to a foot or so so far. expected total of around 18 inches.

Plus they cancelled church today, that's always a bonus :D

Somewhere between 12-18 in the Bronx. I don't plan on venturing outside, and am snuggled up with my kitties with a hot cup of tea.

It's cold here (by Miami standards). I had to turn on the heat for the first time this season. I've been thinking about moving from Miami for the past year or two but when I read things like this thread, I get scared.
I'm allergic to wintertime.

ironically, many of the houses in new england (and jersey, my inlaws lived there when my wife and I were married) *dont* have fireplaces. Syxx's might, mine does not (we do have two furnaces though, my house is weird)

We ended up with about 14-16 inches in the outskirts of Boston (Billerica)

What the heck! Why don't they make every house and apartment with a fireplace there? It's freezing!

The fireplaces in my house are all blocked up, but we have 2 on every floor.

Too dangerous! Can you imagine all the morons in this city with fireplaces? You'd have something burning down every other day. Besides the upkeep for chimmey sweeps (if it's not kept clean, then that in itself will cause a fire), and inspections. I always had fireplaces in my homes upstate, and ironically, in our home in AZ (although it gets cold int he desert at night! but I think it was more of a luxury item than a necessity). But most people don't get them anymore because they're expensive to maintain.
