hahaa... im browsing where i lived in the UK .. its trying to say in the nicest way possible that its an utter hole...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansfield

"Mansfield, which D.H. Lawrence described as "that once romantic now utterley disheartening colliery town" in Lady Chatterley's Lover still does not have a bookshop, apart from a small section in W H Smith.
In Nottinghamshire, Mansfield is regarded with some disdain, being as it is a working class town with little in the way of culture or scenery. That said, the ancestral home of Lord Byron, Newstead Abbey, is located not far away in Ravenshead. The community based Bandwagon Recording Studios are also to be found here.
The town's bus station is often cited by locals as one of the very worst places in England to spend time waiting for transport. The town, like many others, continues to suffer from glaring problems with drugs, alcoholism and antisocial behaviour, possibly a legacy of its close links to the now almost defunct coal mining industry."

Cool~Cape Cod is like a world all it's own. Falmouth is affectionately called the armpit of the Cape. If you were not born here, no matter how long you've lived here, your considered a washashore.

Dennisport is probably one of the places I haven't visited here yet. Lots of wonderful things to do around here, though the teenagers would say diff., if you like nature activities and such.

Next time your around just shout out and we'll chat about some of the things to do. Did you make it to the National Seashore (Salt Pond Visitor Center) in your vacation? Excellent bike trails everywhere and of course the beaches are awesome. ...

Six years ago, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte%2C_NC) for family reasons. Once my work was done there, I returned to Tampa, Florida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampa%2C_Florida), which was my hometown from my teenage years and up.

Places I've also lived:
Queens, New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queens%2C_New_York_City)
Columbia, Maryland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia%2C_Maryland)
Louisville, Kentucky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisville%2C_Kentucky)

I learned something new about each of my homes by getting these Wiki links; this was fun to do.

Hey, I've been there. Well, through there.
I drove from Charlotte to Louisville, KY a few years ago, and I drove right through Shelby, on the way to I-26. That route is, hands down, the most picturesque long distance drive that I've ever taken. Right through the Blue Ridge in April. Breathtaking scenery.
Wouldn't wanna live there, though...:D

You just reminded me of a girl I used to know that lived in nearby Boiling Springs; a student at Gardner Webb College. Lovely girl; a tennis player from Israel. For some reason, she assumed that I was a Black Jew (I still haven't the slightest idea where she got that from), and she suddenly lost interest when I told her I wasn't Jewish--
And I had to let her pass.
She keeps on passin' me by....
She keeps on passin' me by....

That hook turn sounds absolutely terrifying. Of course, maybe Aussie drivers are more hospitable than they are here. The local newsrooms would love the hook turn here, because they wouldn't have to go hunting for carnage to show at 6; they could just camp out at a busy intersection and wait for the blood to start flowing. Why, pray tell, do you keep shuttling back and forth from one side of the globe to the other? Don't you have to unload all of your stuff, and basically start over each time you do that?

you dont have roundabouts there either do ya?? hehe one of lifes simple pleasures is accelerating to high speed as you realise you have reached a double lane roundabout with no-one on it then flying on through!

in england i left most of my stuff there.. clothes to charity shops etc.. this time all my stuff will fit into my car if i fill the seats and trunk(Boot!)

if ur reading this coz, did you do any driving in england? if so how was that?

We have a few roundabouts here, but they are small and low-velocity: very low-stress-- nothing like one would find in Europe. Here in Tampa, there is one that I use frequently, and I've never seen more than three cars on it at one time. The biggest traffic worry involved with driving in Tampa is that the Florida DMV seems to cut costs by not giving road tests, therefore there are a lot of people driving that probably should not be doing so.

Dude, you're not on the list of notable residents..... Well, that can be changed. If Coz and fam don't object, one of us could append the Park Slope entry so he's in there. I mean, how's it gonna be called Wikipedia without ample references to the Wikki Wikki man?:D

No, I didn't, and 10 minutes after hitting the road there I was glad as hell too. I have a reputation for an uncanny sense of direction, I NEVER get lost when driving. I knew right away that I would be no match for the roads over there! I would've spent half of the trip wandering around asking for directions.:D

I also have to say that I'VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY ROUNDABOUTS IN MY LIFE! Though I'll tell you, I didn't see a single one that was as intimidating as Grand Army Plaza right here in Park Slope. Many people will drive way out of their way to avoid that baby! :D :D :D
